About
Clinical Skills Education Team
Welcome to the Leeds University Clinical Skills Education Team (CSE Team); a team consisting of clinical educators from a range of clinical backgrounds spanning medicine, nursing, midwifery and radiography, whose primary objective is to deliver high quality clinical skills and simulation based teaching to students across the Faculty of Medicine and Health at Leeds University. Students from the undergraduate courses of MBCHB (Medicine), Dentistry, Radiography, Cardiac Physiology and postgraduate PA (Physician Associate) students all benefit from access to the diverse teaching curriculum tailored to support these respective courses. Teaching encompasses a wide range of formats and specialty specific content enhanced by the use of advanced simulation equipment and technologies enabling immersive teaching experiences.
The Clinical Skills Education Teaching Programmes
The CSE Team hosts a busy schedule of teaching activities throughout the entire academic year, including the delivery of mandatory core clinical skills such as yearly Basic Life Support (BLS) updates, specialty specific topics across individual year groups, revision and support sessions and a key role in assessment and OSCE examinations. All of the teaching that is carried out by the team has the significant benefit of being delivered in small groups, ensuring high quality provision and plenty of opportunities for students to learn, practise and develop their skills and knowledge.

Additional educational activities
The CSE Team at Leeds promotes opportunities to students and clinicians alike who may wish to be involved in clinical skills and simulation teaching to become involved in voluntary and flexible adhoc roles. The team also support MBCHB students intercalating in Medical Education by providing teaching placement opportunities. A pastoral role of the team branches into providing personal tutoring support to both the MBCHB and PA programmes.
Community Outreach Programmes
The CSE Team are keenly involved in community outreach programmes that benefit members of the public by delivering large scale health training and health screening programmes as well as benefitting students by providing them with an opportunity to be involved with the implementation of these activities. These have included the running of “Know Your Blood Pressure” (KYBP), a Stroke Prevention and screening programme and “Restart a Heart” (RSAH) a CPR training programme.
